Legacy Plaza
Legacy Plaza was built to enhance SCLARC’s ability to address programming needs as well as provide adequate space for the agency’s employees and consultants. It is monumental in SCLARC’s commitment to help stimulate economic development in the community and is utilized by community residents and businesses.
The project encompasses the historic Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Building and a new office complex. Together, the dual structures provide more than 100,000 square feet of office space for SCLARC’s present and future staffing needs.
South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC) hosted the Grand Opening of its new headquarters, Legacy Plaza, in 2015. The showcase allowed Grand Opening participants to understand the benefit of the agency’s programming and resource development to regional center consumers and families.
The Legacy Plaza Grand Opening was attended by a hosts of SCLARC’s political representatives including Congresswoman Maxine Waters (43rd District), Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas (2nd District), 9th District Councilman Curren Price, 8th District Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson, as well as more than 350 staff members, stakeholders and community partners.
SCLARC’s Board of Directors and Leadership Team made a commitment to inspire economic development in the area as well as provide local organizations with access to state of the art meeting rooms and ample parking for weekend community events.
As the first major office development constructed in the Historic West Adams corridor in four decades, Legacy Plaza is now home to the regional center’s 300+ employees and consultants as well as thousands of its consumers, families and vendors.
The visibility of Legacy Plaza in the Adams/Western Corridors has increased public awareness regarding the special needs population. It has also given SCLARC an added opportunity to outreach to the community, while also reflecting the regional center’s core values of fostering an open and inclusive environment.
